Friday 11/8/24 - A Place I've Never Wanted to Leave

 A place I've never wanted to leave was Orlando, Florida. I went there for a trip after my sophomore year of high school, and it was an amazing experience. I went with my family and some of my extended family, and we stayed in a hotel for about two weeks, a time that felt too short. We visited Universal Studios, which had tons of exhilarating rides and many attractions to visit. We visited SeaWorld as well, but not DisneyWorld because two theme parks seemed unnecessary. Near the end of the two weeks, we had to start packing and getting ready to leave. This is when reality began to settle back in, and I realized that I'm on a trip, and that this is temporary, but I didn't want to leave. That trip is something that has stuck with me as a place I have never wanted to leave.

 Today, we took a 25 question vocab quiz on illuminate that was pretty easy. Afterwards, a few people finished up with the story map presentations. I took away from this that we have a diverse class that is representative of the diversity of Lakeside and how different life experiences and cultural backgrounds shape our identity. I liked that I got to see a bit of other people's upbringing and life experiences and his compares or differs from mine. I'm feeling glad that the we are now entering the weekend, and that grades have been posted.

Mastering precise vocabulary can impact your daily communication and academic success through making it easier to express your ideas and feelings correctly and clearly. It makes communication easier because there is less of a chance for others to misinterpret what you are saying and reduces the chance of miscommunication and confusion. A stronger and more precise vocabulary can also increase your confidence because you know you have a strong grasp on the concept or idea you are trying to express, which can help you talk to others or speak up publicly. It can also strengthen academic success because it displays a strong understanding of material and lessons and can put more weight into your arguments which can in turn improve your grades.    Absent this day.

Tuesday 4/22/25 - After reading The Tyger by William Blake, take a moment to reflect on the idea of creation. What do you believe is the most beautiful creation in the world—natural or man-made—and why? Describe it in detail and explain what makes it so awe-inspiring to you.

After reading "The Tyger" by William Blake I believe all of creation is beautiful and something I cannot comprehend, because it is so encompassing and so intricate that it would take an immensely powerful divine God to be responsible. I believe the most beautiful creation in the world are trees. This is because they are so intricate, and each one so unique, yet they are so common. Trees are beautiful in that they represent nature and the symbiotic relationship humans have with nature regarding the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Trees can begin as a tiny seed, and grow to be grand and majestic structures that represent slow but steady growth. Trees are also a very important in symbolism, and is used to describe the universe in Norse mythology, as well as "family trees" or the "tree of life."
