Monday 11/11/24 - A time I felt completely lost

A time I felt completely lost is when I went trick or treating on Halloween as a kid with my neighbors. I was probably about 6 or 7 years old, and this was my first time going trick or treating. I went with two of my siblings and two of my neighbors, all of which were older than me. We stopped by a few houses in our street and neighborhood, and as time went on we ventured further and further away from home. We began making turns and crossing roads we were unfamiliar with, to reach houses that seemed more like they might have more candy. After about an hour and a half, we realized we were completely lost. This is when things took a bad turn, as it started raining, which made the cold weather even worse. At this point, we tried to trace our steps back home, but it was of no use. Also, none of us had cell phones to call with as we were all relatively young. Thankfully, eventually the neighbors dad found us on the road, and drove us back home, after frantically driving around to find us.

Vocab Quiz & Finishing Story Map Presentations - Friday 9-6-2024

 Today, we took a 25 question vocab quiz on illuminate that was pretty easy. Afterwards, a few people finished up with the story map presentations. I took away from this that we have a diverse class that is representative of the diversity of Lakeside and how different life experiences and cultural backgrounds shape our identity. I liked that I got to see a bit of other people's upbringing and life experiences and his compares or differs from mine. I'm feeling glad that the we are now entering the weekend, and that grades have been posted.

Friday - 1/31/25 - Imagine it's the year 2050. What does the world look like? How have technology, society, and the environment changed?

The biggest difference in the year 2050 from now will not be the appearance of everything, but the way of life for everyone. Despite not looking much different, everything will look a somewhat upgraded. Additionally, engineers and planners will have created better planned cities and hubs with more efficient use of space and transportation. The way of life globally will have become much more easy and efficient. AI and robots can pull off almost any task a human can, such as cleaning, sending emails, driving, coding, manufacturing, etc. Consequently, they have become ingrained in human lives, even in third-world countries. Society will continue to become more interconnected, but certain cultures and languages will die out as a result of this.
