Wednesday 10/30/24

 Today, we presented our Culture poem projects in class. I presented last and discussed my Ethiopian heritage, and how despite living in America, my home here, gives me a sense of what it's like over there. I also talked about the need for understanding your culture and heritage to develop personal identity and fulfillment. I learned about my classmates' culture and how they felt about them. An important takeaway is that we are very diverse and come from many different backgrounds,  I'm feeling relieved to be able to have presented my poem today.

I learned that Asians are soon to become the most common immigrant group over Hispanics by the year 2055. I liked this lesson because it gave me new insight into the immigration demographics in the U.S. that I did not know about beforehand. Tuesday 4/22/25 - After reading The Tyger by William Blake, take a moment to reflect on the idea of creation. What do you believe is the most beautiful creation in the world—natural or man-made—and why? Describe it in detail and explain what makes it so awe-inspiring to you.

After reading "The Tyger" by William Blake I believe all of creation is beautiful and something I cannot comprehend, because it is so encompassing and so intricate that it would take an immensely powerful divine God to be responsible. I believe the most beautiful creation in the world are trees. This is because they are so intricate, and each one so unique, yet they are so common. Trees are beautiful in that they represent nature and the symbiotic relationship humans have with nature regarding the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Trees can begin as a tiny seed, and grow to be grand and majestic structures that represent slow but steady growth. Trees are also a very important in symbolism, and is used to describe the universe in Norse mythology, as well as "family trees" or the "tree of life." Wednesday - 1/8/2025 - Write about a dream that felt real

A dream I had that felt real was a dream where I was traversing sand dunes in the middle east with my mom and some relatives. In the dream, I was lost in a sand storm and when the dust settled I saw my mom, and we just walked across the dunes trying to get somewhere. Along the way, we found some other family members like my sister and cousins. Eventually, we reached a high bridge after hiking up a hill, and as we were crossing the bridge, disaster struck. Another sand storm hit, and in the chaos, the bridge snapped and I was trying to hold on to others to make sure they didn't fall, but the wind was too strong, and as I was falling towards the ground, I happened to wake up. I think part of what made this dream feel so real to me is that I've had it more than once.
