Monday 4/14/25 - Write about what you did over the Spring Break.

Over this spring break I went on a trip to Florida with some friends of mine outside of school. We were there from Tuesday to Saturday. On the Saturday before the trip I stayed inside the house and went out to go see the Minecraft movie with some friends and got food afterwards at Cook Out. The drive to Destin, Florida was about 5 and a half hours. I packed my bags with my belongings and about 500 dollars, which I blew through by the end of the trip. When we arrived, we settled in our condo, and crashed in for the next couple of hours. Later in the night, we went out and got food and met some locals as well as others coming for spring break. The next day was much more eventful. We woke up early to get food in my friend's car. We visited the beach when it wasn't too busy, until later in the afternoon when we heard about music events happening. Later that day, the beach was filled with people, more than I had ever seen at once on the beach. For the rest of the trip we somewhat stuck to the same routine, but it was still fun because it was our first time there, so we were still visiting attractions and meeting other people. By the end, I was tired and broke, and ready to go back home, where I crashed in all day, and got ready to go back to school.

Second NewsELA Assignment - Monday - 9/23/2024

 Today, we read an article about the dangers of using Google for self-diagnosis, as well as the best ways in which to get medical information being a doctor. Additionally, we completed a short quiz, and wrote a constructed response about the article. I learned that oftentimes health websites are not trying to provide the most accurate information to the reader, but rather boost sales through advertisement of certain products or treatments. I liked reading this article because I, myself in the past have found myself doing similar things, such as Googling my symptoms for a possible diagnosis, even though I know better now, it gives me something to look back on. Today, I'm looking forward to visiting my cousins.

Thursday 10/10/24

Today, we took our final test on "Fences" by August Wilson. It was a lot of questions (45) but the questions weren't that hard, and I got a 91. I learned that I got 4 questions wrong out of 45. I liked that how each character in the story represented certain ideals or morals, such as Bono with loyalty and Troy with hard work. I feel like today is Friday, because the different block schedule messed up my perception of the week.

Monday 11/18/24

 Today, we were introduced into a new project, where we were randomly assigned new group members. We were introduced to a story called "A Devoted Son" by Anita Desai, and we read a short background about her life. My group chose the theme of isolation vs. community. I learned that Desai's life and family was caught in the crosshairs of the timeframe of Indian modernization after it gained independence. I found it interesting how she described hiding her profession from her children. I'm feeling ready to get adjusted into my new group and work on the project.
